چکیده

In the framework of reducing GHG emissions and accelerating decarbonization road transport sector, vehicle efficiency is a key factor for competitiveness. this sense, refining industry can make its contribution by reformulating high-octane petrol fuel. The impact type gasoline from CO2 emission balance, technical feasibility, economics standpoints has recently been assessed petroleum with promising results, new potential boosters that could improve octane number standard are more needed than ever. present work summarizes comprehensive review aimed at collecting available data regarding chemical molecules be used in advanced formulations modern spark-ignited car engines focusing on ash-free technologies. Potential divided into two categories: components enhancer additives, 2 vol % considered frontier concentration between them. Targeted compounds examined screening include isoparaffins, olefins, aromatics, alcohols, ethers, esters, ketones, furans, carbonates. Chemical families as additives were anilines, hydrazines, amines, pyridines, quinolines, indoles, N-nitrosamines, iodine compounds, selenium phenols, formates, oxalates, and, lesser extension, other families. scope analysis includes not only anti-knock effectiveness but also associated side effects engine, possible both human health environment, current applications, compatibility existing infrastructure, among others. Promising opportunities medium- long-terms every family potentially character gasolines well beyond specifications worldwide presented. Furthermore, few identified most ones to future formulations, either (such esters) or booster phenols).

Trends in auto emissions and gasoline composition.

The invention of the spark-ignited internal combustion engine provided a market for a petroleum middle distillate, gasoline, about 100 years ago. The internal combustion engine and gasoline have co-evolved until motor vehicles now annually consume about 110 billion gallons of gasoline in the United States. Continuing air pollution problems and resulting regulatory pressures are driving the need...

New Approaches to Analyze Gasoline Rationing

In this paper, the relation among factors in the road transportation sector from March, 2005 to March, 2011 is analyzed. Most of the previous studies have economical point of view on gasoline consumption. Here, a new approach is proposed in which different data mining techniques are used to extract meaningful relations between the aforementioned factors. The main and dependent factor is gasolin...

Low-Temperature Combustion of High Octane Fuels in a Gasoline Compression Ignition Engine

Gasoline compression ignition (GCI) has been shown as one of the advanced combustion concepts that could potentially provide a pathway to achieve cleaner and more efficient combustion engines. Fuel and air in GCI are not fully premixed compared to homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI), which is a completely kinetic-controlled combustion system. Therefore, the combustion phasing can be ...

A Historical Analysis of the Co-evolution of Gasoline Octane Number and Spark-Ignition Engines

In this work, the authors reviewed engine, vehicle, and fuel data since 1925 to examine the historical and recent coupling of compression ratio and fuel antiknock properties (i.e., octane number) in the U.S. light-duty vehicle market. The analysis identified historical time frames and trends and illustrated how three factors – consumer preferences, technical capabilities, and regulatory legisla...

Simultaneous determination of methanol and ethanol in gasoline using NIR spectroscopy: effect of gasoline composition.

Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was employed for simultaneous determination of methanol and ethanol contents in gasoline. Spectra were collected in the range from 714 to 2500 nm and were used to construct quantitative models based on partial least squares (PLS) regression. Samples were prepared in the laboratory and the PLS regression models were developed using the spectral range from 1105 to...
